What Is an Eyelash Transplant?

An eyelash transplant places single scalp hairs along the edge of the upper eyelid. Dr. Aneel harvests a small number of fine follicles from the back of the head. He then inserts them one at a time along the lash line, angled so they curve outward and away from the eye. Most cases need about 50 to 90 grafts per upper lid.

The new lashes are scalp hairs, so they behave like scalp hair. They grow longer than natural lashes and do not shed on a short cycle. Patients need to trim them regularly and may use a lash curler to keep them lifted. The procedure is precise and less common than brow work, so a careful assessment of your eyelids comes first. Eyelash Transplant Procedure

2. Planning the lash line: the number of grafts and the zones to fill are agreed with you.
3. Local anaesthesia: the donor patch and the upper eyelids are numbed. The eye is protected throughout.
4. Harvesting: fine single-hair follicles are taken from the back of the scalp.
5. Lash placement: each graft is inserted along the lid margin and angled outward so it clears the eye.
6. Home the same day: you leave with eye care instructions and prescribed drops or ointment if needed.
